This Billy Goat PR551 power rake is ideal for removing matted thatch from the turf. With a 20″ base and solid construction this unit is designed to last a long time. The downwards sweep rotation design this detacher uses, pulls the tool forward itself making it self-propelled and reducing operator fatigue. 

The solid construction adds more weight to the product, a solid steel body, high-quality premium bearings and a 10-gauge steel engine base this power rake absorbs a substantial amount of the vibration from the unit. It is powered by a Briggs and Stratton Vanguard engine coupled to a free-swinging, heat-treated, tempered flail blade reel, mounted to the heavy-duty cast iron pillow block bearings with grease fittings.

• Spring tine reels which are not too harsh on the lawn, they lift the dead grass to the top as well as other debris etc to remove thatch and can be part of a regular maintenance schedule on someone’s lawn, this means the tool can be used regularly throughout the year. These lawns are generally still healthy and good.
• The Verticutter slices deep into the soil which opens it up to help absorb water or if you are also laying seed down it makes this application more successful. You can also buy this reel as part of the overseeder kit. 
• The fail blades are the harshest of the three and come standard on the tool. They are usually used when a complete renovation is required/ a serious thatch problem is present.
